About the Event
And now for something completely different!
We take a step away from Blank Space and our amazing models (they really are the best) and into nature. Â Painting 'en plein air', or outside in the fresh air, is a timeless and well-respected way of painting. You can find thousands of studies from famous artists before photographs were invented - to get the correct colors and feeling of a piece, they would do quick sketches on location to get the piece right before they went back to their studio!
Our instructor, Martin Mauseth Hvattum, is an amazing teacher and an even better plein air painter. He will walk you through the basics of how to approach a piece, what to think about, how to simplify what you see, and other tips! Painting outdoors is tricky - so he will also walk you through how you have to approach a piece differently that you make on location versus in your studio.
This event will NOT take place at Blank Space. We will email all participants the day before to confirm location of where we will meet, and participants are responsible for their own transportation.Â
Remember to wear sunscreen!Â
This class will be taught in English. Please bring your own painting supplies, such as watercolor, gouache, acrylic, or oils. We recommend keeping things simple and prepare your canvas / paper / palette before hand as we will be outside with limited access to supplies and water.Â
